Early detection and improvements in treatment have helped millions of women survive breast cancer

The 5-year survival of breast cancer in Ghana is less than 25%, compared with over 70% in Western Europe and North America. Why is this? Late presentation for treatment is the hallmark of breast cancer in Ghanaian women, where over 60% of patients report with either stage 3 or 4 of the disease. RFCA Ghana endeavors to financially support women found to have breast cancer (stage 1 or 2) by subsidizing or fully covering treatment costs.
